Nobody loves stories more than children and they are central to the festival. A highlight will be the launch of a booklet of stories created by POW 2019, in association with local preschool children. Film footage of the young storytellers will be on display at Heritage House. An array of writing workshops, word trails, song and story-telling events will keep small ones busy. There’s even an opportunity to visit ‘The Night Garden’.
Teenagers are also well catered for with a selection of their ‘Blackout Poetry’ on display, writing workshops and one or two surprise events lined up over the weekend! Heritage House will facilitate a series of walks and talks around Abbeyleix and its bog-lands, including a tour of some of the town’s numerous fountains and the re-telling of historical events in front of the doors of some notable buildings.
For the weekend of August 23rd – 25th, Abbeyleix will become the epi-centre of creative activity. There is something for everyone and the promise of a truly enjoyable and engaging weekend - with lots of quirky touches thrown in for good measure.
