Fighting Words will run a free workshop for 9-12 year olds on Sunday 25th August at 11.00 a.m.
Participants coming to Fighting Words Story writing workshop will write an original story together, and see it being typed up on the screen. Once they have decided on the characters and plot they will write part of the story together, helped by Fighting Words tutors, editing as they go. They will have time to write their own individual endings to the story. The children will create their book, including illustrations and an About the Author page, complete with their photo.
Fighting Words is a creative writing centre established by Roddy Doyle and Sean Love. Their aim is to help children and young people, and adults who did not have this opportunity as children, to discover and harness the power of their own imaginations and creative writing skills. At its core, Fighting Words is also about something much broader and more inclusive. It is about using the creative practice of writing and storytelling to strengthen our children and teenagers –from a wide range of backgrounds – to be resilient, creative and successful shapers of their own lives.
The workshop places will be limited to 30 participants and the workshop is suited for 9-12 year olds
