POETRY WORKSHOP
WITH ARTHUR BROOMFIELD
9:30 A.M. - 12.30P.M.
VENUE: Mac's Abbeyleix

A note from Arthur:
I look forward to meeting you at my workshop. I would like it to be fun, relaxed and informal. Of course we will get serious too in our discussions on the art, and the craft of poetry writing. What is this thing called inspiration, from where or when does it originate ? How do you recognize it when it hits you ? Then to translate inspiration to language : this we can loosely call the craft of writing, though it will also interact with ,and draw from the inspiration that started the process.
The craft of writing poetry
We will discuss use, choice and mis- or overuse of language, economy of language., creating the concrete image, setting the poem in the moment , form and content, rhyme and rhythm and whatever else may arise in discussion.
We will hope to work on some aspects of the actual writing of a poem .
The workshop will last for three hours. Will each member bring two copies of one of their poems as we will hope to look over and chat on them during the last hour. I would like to see your poem beforehand so will you also email me a copy ? (broomfield.arthur@gmail.com) It need not be a finished poem, work in progress will be fine.   I look forward to seeing you and having a workshop you will enjoy..
